A woman wanted for assaulting a law enforcement officer in California was apprehended at the border crossing in Blaine.

The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office says a customs officer contacted 39-year-old Esmeralda Sandoval last Wednesday as she tried to re-enter the U.S.

The officer found she was wanted on a felony fugitive warrant took her into custody.

She’s being held in the Whatcom County Jail on $1 million bail.
