BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Workers at the Bellingham REI store and another in Minnesota voted in favor of unionization on Friday, June 9th.
A representative of the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 3000 says the vote at the Bellingham store was 40 to 12 in favor of the union.
The vote in Maple Grove, Minnesota was 22 to 4.
Bellingham workers who had advocated for the vote are expressing satisfaction.
A statement from REI says the results are not final until the elections are certified, but the outdoor co-op remains committed to the right of its workers to organize.
