PULLMAN, Wash.- Washington State University is updating its COVID-19 vaccination policy.

The university said that their COVID-19 vaccine mandate will be lifted for most students starting this summer.

Only WSU Health Science students will still be required to get the vaccines.

Joel Schwartzkopf, WSU’s vice chancellor of student health and wellbeing, said that the mandate was necessary when the pandemic was at its peak.

However, he added that school officials continue to recommend the COVID-19 vaccine for both students and staff.

WSU’s vaccine mandate for employees was lifted when Gov Inslee ended emergency COVID orders last October.
