BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A Whatcom County bus route is staying on the same roads but now has a new name.
The Whatcom Transportation Authority says the former Route 50 Gooseberry Point will now be known as Route 50 Lummi Nation.
WTA board members and Lummi Nation tribal leaders met to acknowledge the name change on Monday, June 12th, when it took effect.
Lummi Nation leaders are also working on improving transportation to tribal services for both bus riders and cyclists.
WTA gave Lummi Nation a $65,000 grant to create a secure bike parking area and improve three bus stops.
