BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Western Washington University women’s basketball team came back from a 17-point deficit to defeat Montana State Billings 76-1 on Saturday night for the Great Northwest Athletic Conference championship.

Junior forward Brooke Walling scored a game-high 22 points in the effort. The Vikings trailed by 12 points at halftime, but outscored Montana State Billings 44-27 in the second half to earn the win. Five players scored in the double-digits for the Vikings.

They split the regular-season series with MSUB, losing the second game in an overtime thriller on Feb. 16.

With the win, the Vikings earn a two-seed in the NCAA D-II tournament and will face Azusa Pacific in the quarterfinal round that is likely on Friday. The team will look to repeat last season’s magic from their national title game tournament run that ended in an 85-72 loss to Glenville State College.
