EVERSON, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A new shelter has opened for residents who were displaced by last week’s historic flooding.

The Nooksack Indian Tribe is hosting a shelter at the Sulwhanon Community Building at 2515 Sulwhanon Drive in Everson.

Two previous shelters that were initially opened in Lynden are now closed.

The American Red Cross is operating the new shelter, which cannot accept any animals indoors, even pets.

Those with animals can view shelter options for their pets on the county’s flood resources page.
