OLYMPIA, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Washington state Attorney General Nick Brown has filed yet another lawsuit against a presidential executive order.

AG Brown says that he and the attorneys general of Minnesota and Oregon took joint action against the order targeting gender-affirming care.

The order calls for federal funding to be halted for medical facilities that perform gender-affirming procedures for anyone under the age of 19. It also threatens to criminalize both patients and medical professionals involved in those procedures, even if they’re done in a state that allows them.

AG Brown says that the executive order violates the 5th and 10th amendments of the U.S. Constitution.

He notes that funding for medical facilities is authorized by Congress, which cannot be overridden by a presidential order.

AG Brown previously filed a lawsuit against the President’s executive order attempting to end birthright citizenship.

That executive order has since been put on pause by federal judges.
