BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Washington’s attorney general has continued to pursue litigation against the Trump administration.

On July 29, AG Nick Brown joined 24 states in suing the administration for blocking Planned Parenthood from receiving Medicaid funding.

The AG’s office says the provision in Congressional budget legislation blocks Medicaid reimbursements for healthcare services provided by Planned Parenthood facilities. According to the office, nearly half of all patients at Planned Parenthood use Medicaid.

The coalition of states alleges that the sweeping policy is a direct attack on low-income residents in America.

Another suit AG Brown signed onto earlier this week challenges the Trump administration’s demands for access to SNAP recipients’ personal data.

In all, 21 states filed the suit that alleges the demands violate multiple federal privacy laws, fail to meet public comment requirements, exceed the USDA’s authority and violates the U.S. Constitution.

Brown filed a separate suit last week against the company that helps administer food stamps in Washington, claiming it’s threatening the privacy of more than a million residents.
