WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Smoke from BC wildfires is tanking air quality across our region.

Monitoring website IQ Air reports that winds coming from the east have brought smoke particles over from the Fraser River outflow into Whatcom County.

Currently, parts of Everson, Kendall, Sumas and Maple Falls have “unhealthy” air quality levels.

Ferndale and Lynden are at “moderate” levels, while Bellingham, Blaine and Birch Bay aren’t having as many issues.

Those who have respiratory issues or are sensitive to reduced air quality are advised to stay indoors with their windows closed.

Whatcom Fire District 14 is reminding people not to call 911 because of the smoke.
