PORTLAND, OR (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Train travelers heading south may need to adjust their plans for the foreseeable future.

Amtrak said in a press release that direct service from Seattle to Portland has been suspended due to a warehouse fire near the tracks in Portland.

KING 5 reports that the 8-story abandoned building is at risk of collapsing, and investigators believe that human remains may still be inside.

Southbound trains from Seattle will continue to make stops until Vancouver, where passengers will either need to take a bus to Portland or arrange another form of transportation.

Direct bus options between Seattle and Portland are also available for impacted passengers.

Train service from Seattle northbound to Bellingham and Vancouver, B.C. is running on its regular schedule.
