SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – An Amtrak Cascades train was among the casualties of Tuesday night’s windstorm in Western Washington.

The southbound train was operating near the Snohomish County town of Silvana, southeast of Stanwood, at about 7:50 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19 when it hit a tree that had been downed by the wind.

The tree crashed through the locomotive’s windshield and narrowly missed the engineer.

The Seattle Times reports the train was carrying 48 passengers. No injuries were reported but the engineer was taken to a hospital to be checked out.

The passengers were offered different transportation after the accident.
