ANACORTES, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – An Anacortes seafood company has issued a voluntary recall for two of its products.

The Food and Drug Administration says that the SeaBear Company is asking customers not to consume certain packages of their chowders. Their Smoked Salmon and Alehouse Clam chowders may have been contaminated with the bacteria that causes botulism.

Customers who bought either of the chowders between last October and Friday, March 14 are being urged not to consume them and to call SeaBear to receive a full refund.

Botulism is a form of food poisoning that can be fatal.

Symptoms include dizziness, muscle weakness and difficulties in breathing, speaking or swallowing.

SeaBear noted that the recalled soup pouches weren’t fully sealed due to a mechanical issue, which prompted the recall.
