OLYMPIA, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A medical equipment company is being forced to pay back hundreds of Washington residents over an overbilling issue.

Outgoing Washington state Attorney General Bob Ferguson says that his office filed a medical fraud lawsuit against Florida-based Lincare in 2023.

Between 2017 and March 2023, Lincare overcharged Medicaid customers over 15,000 times for oxygen equipment rentals. Part of the overbilling was due to Lincare continuing to charge rental fees beyond the state limit of three years.

Lincare reached a $29 million resolution with the Eastern District of Washington in 2023, which began the process of Ferguson’s lawsuit.

Ferguson has ordered Lincare reimburse over $1.1 million to hundreds of impacted residents.
