BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Initial results are in for the August primary election.
The Whatcom County Auditor’s office reports about 25% of ballots were returned, with about 1,000 left to count.
In the race for County Council, Elizabeth Boyle leads with over 55% of the vote for the District 2 seat.
District 3 incumbent Tyler Byrd is trailing behind frontrunner Jessica Rienstra, who is ahead by over 2,000 votes.
Both levies for the Rural Library District and the South Whatcom Fire Authority are on track to pass.
Incumbent Port Commissioner Ken Bell leads the race for the District 2 position with over 60% of the vote.
Updated results will be released at 5 p.m. on Aug. 6.
