BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The Bellingham City Council is holding a series of public hearings about whether to oppose several initiatives on Washington’s ballot.

Members of the public are welcome to voice their opinions on whether the city should put forth resolutions against Let’s Go Washington‘s initiatives.

I-2066 seeks to repeal regulations and laws that discourage natural gas usage and favor electrification as sources of energy. I-2109 would repeal an excise tax on capital gains of over $250,000. I-2117 looks to do away with the Washington’s carbon cap-and-invest program. I-2124 wants to change how long-term care coverage works within the state.

If the council does approve the resolutions, they will encourage Bellingham voters to vote “No” on the corresponding initiatives.

The hearings are scheduled for next Monday, Oct. 14 at 10 a.m. The four public hearings and consideration of the resolutions will be held in council chambers on the second floor of city hall.
