BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A Bellingham man was arrested after being accused of stealing nearly $10,000 worth of sports cards from his neighbor.

Court documents state that the victim reported that a large chunk of his sports card collection was missing from his house, including an autographed Ken Griffey Jr. rookie card.

He later found some of his stolen cards at a local sports card shop.

Employees were able to identify the man who brought them in, and deputies later learned that the suspect lived across from the victim.

They discovered that the 32-year-old suspect had a key to the victim’s house, which he had been given for various projects since they were acquaintances.

The suspect tried to sell the cards at another local card shop, but employees there rejected him because they thought the cards were stolen, according to court documents.

In all, the suspect is accused of stealing just over $9,500 worth of sports cards from his neighbor.

He was arrested on July 24 and was released on personal recognizance the next day.
