BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The man accused of killing a young woman in Bellingham in 2022 has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Shilo Englert appeared in court on Wednesday, June 12, over two years after he was arrested for the murder of Kasaundra “Kassy” Booker.

31-year-old Booker died from a gunshot wound to the head in a 22 North building’s stairwell on Feb. 8, 2022. Englert was seen with Booker in the hour leading up to her death and he was seen leaving the crime scene mere minutes before Booker’s body was discovered.

He was arrested nearly two weeks later for second-degree murder, but the charge was later reduced to second-degree manslaughter.

Englert also admitted guilt to four other charges unrelated to Booker’s death according to Whatcom County’s Prosecuting Attorney’s Office’s Chief Criminal Deputy Erik Sigmar.

The charges include drug possession with intent to deliver, unlawful firearm possession and two stolen vehicle possession charges.

Englert is scheduled for sentencing on July 1, 2024.
