BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A foundation supporting local students is asking for support in light of recent ICE operations.
The Bellingham Public Schools Foundation notes on their Family Support Fund donation site that they’re aware of recent ICE activity occurring in our region.
As those operations often target adults, the Foundation says that ICE actions can put impacted students in an extremely vulnerable position. The foundation’s Family Support Fund was created to provide those students with immediate essentials, such as food and clothing.
They add that other students who may be in similar difficult situations will also benefit from any donations made to the fund.
My Bellingham Now previously reported that 37 people were taken into ICE custody at Mount Baker Roofing last week.
It’s unclear how many of those detained have students attending the Bellingham School District.
