BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A Ferndale man is in custody following a robbery last month in Bellingham.

Police Lt. Claudia Murphy says that the victim was walking on E Bakerview Road on Sept. 9.

He told investigators that as they passed by the suspect, identified as a 26-year-old man, he threatened to kill them with a knife.

The victim was instructed to follow the suspect and another person into the woods across the street, where he was threatened with death if he didn’t give them his wallet.

Police were called as soon as the victim made it out of the woods, but they weren’t able to find the suspect.

He was recognized by a Bellingham Police officer Thursday, Oct. 8 while walking on the Guide Meridian and was taken into custody.
