BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A Bellingham woman accused of trying to kill two children has made her first court appearance.
43-year-old Brenda Wilder-Brown pleaded not guilty to attempted murder during her arraignment in Whatcom County Superior Court on Thursday, June 11.
She was arrested on May 16 following an assault that sent a 4-year-old boy to the hospital.
Court documents state a 9-year-old girl called 911 that day to report her brother had been stabbed and that she feared for her own life. Wilder-Brown later told police she was playing games with the kids when she says she experienced a “black-out” period.
The 4-year-old was treated for multiple superficial cuts and a wound that required stitches, while the 9-year-old didn’t have any visual injuries.
Before her arraignment, Wilder-Brown was sent to a hospital where she was treated for extreme psychosis.
Her next court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, July 8, and her jury trial is tentatively scheduled to begin on Aug. 3.
