WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A long-distance bike event may cause some slowdowns on your weekend commute.

Cascade Bicycle Club is hosting its annual Ride from Seattle to Vancouver and Party, better known as RSVP.

The two-day ride kicks off in Seattle at 6:30 Saturday morning, Aug. 22 and cyclists are expected to make their way through Skagit County roads later that morning. Some of the impacted roads include Highways 9 and 11, E College Way and Avon Allen Road.

The halfway point for the race is at the Bellingham Waterfront, where riders will return to pick up the trail around 7 a.m. Sunday.

They’ll travel along Northwest Drive and Wiser Lake Road, picking up Hannegan to get to Front Street in Lynden, then taking Double Ditch Road towards the border.

Drivers are asked to be cautious and slow down if they encounter bicyclists during the race.
