WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Additional traffic disruptions are on the horizon for dozens of secondary roads around Whatcom County.
The annual Tour de Whatcom kicks off Saturday, July 18 at 7:30 a.m. in downtown Bellingham.
Routes span from 22 to 100 miles, sending bicyclists from Alger and Sudden Valley through Lynden and Birch Bay into Ferndale and back.
Drivers should be prepared to slow down and be mindful of over 800 bicyclists expected to hit the road.
Further road work impacts drivers in Whatcom County
More overnight lane closures are coming up for parts of I-5 in Whatcom County.
WSDOT said that I-5 southbound will be reduced to one lane between Northwest Avenue and the Guide Meridian starting Sunday night, July 19.
Crews will be repaving the area from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
The work will also close the on-ramp to I-5 southbound from Meridian Street during those same times.
