BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The Bellingham Police Department (BPD) says that a man who escaped hospital custody on Sunday night was previously involved in a pursuit.

Bellingham Police Spokesperson Megan Peters says that the man, Jason John, was spotted violating a no-contact order on Sunday afternoon. An off-duty detective later saw him in a vehicle with another person and alerted officers.

John slowed his car down and let the other person out on James Street before leaving the area.

The pursuit continued north near the Bellis Fair Mall until John’s car hit a curb on Telegraph Road and smashed into a stopped BPD patrol car.

Officers transported the unconscious John to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center. He left the hospital around 8 p.m. wearing a blue hospital gown and white socks.

John was located and arrested by Everett Police Tuesday afternoon.
