BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A pair of upcoming bridge replacements will likely disrupt your commute through Bellingham.

The Bellingham Public Works Department says that the Meador Ave. and James St. bridges over Whatcom Creek will close in late May.

These bridges were both built in the 1930’s and were rebuilt in 1962. Each bridge is built on timber piers which have been decaying over time.

Water mains, sewage lines and stormwater systems spanning the bridges will also be replaced.

The City of Bellingham is hosting an open house for both projects on Monday, May 6 from 6-8 p.m. at the Bellingham High School auditorium.
