FERNDALE, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A Ferndale man is in custody after an alleged sexual assault last month.

City of Ferndale spokesperson Megan Juenemann says police were alerted of the incident on Feb. 23.

The victim claims the male suspect gave them drugs and alcohol before using force to carry out the alleged assault.

An investigation developed probable cause to arrest the suspect, 24-year-old Esteban Reina, for second degree rape.

Reina was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon. He remains at the Whatcom County Jail without bail.
