WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently announced it is investing $1 million to cut energy costs for farmers and ag producers across the state.

This round of grant recipients includes Fat-Cat Fish, LLC, a pet food company located in Bellingham.

The business will receive $4,400 to make energy-efficient upgrades, including the installation of an HVAC system on their property. The changes will save them nearly $900 a year, according to the USDA.

Several businesses in Skagit, Island and San Juan Counties were also included in the grants to cut energy costs.
