LUMMI NATION (MyBellinghamNow.com) – More habitat restoration grants have been approved for the Lummi Nation.
The federal funding comes from the Inflation Reduction Act and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, according to Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell.
Over $9.8 million has been earmarked for the South Fork Nooksack Watershed Project.
Team members will continue to restore habitat along a 3.2-mile-long stretch of the river for endangered Chinook salmon.
The grant will also divert more fresh water to the Skookum Hatchery near Acme to help with the salmon reproduction process.
