BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Downtown Bellingham is seeing results in the weeks after Mayor Kim Lund’s executive order addressing the fentanyl crisis.
The Bellingham Police Department say its officers are spending dedicated time walking downtown to interact with the community in support of the order. It adds that officers made a massive recovery during an encounter last week.
Officers seized over 25 grams of fentanyl and methamphetamine in addition to a scale with residue, meth pipes and over $700 in cash.
Mayor Lund issued the order on Feb. 20 in response to a surge in overdoses, especially downtown.
