REDMOND, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – In an effort to combat anti-trust scrutiny, Microsoft will stop packaging their Office suite with their videoconferencing app known as “Teams” around the world.
The move comes after an anti-trust investigation was opened against the tech giant by European Union (EU)’s executive commission in 2023.
Slack Technologies – a competitor to Teams – filed a complaint against Microsoft in 2020 over claims that the bundling gave Microsoft an unfair advantage. The EU’s investigation resulted in Microsoft separating Teams from the Office Suite for Europe’s market last year.
Slack alleged that Microsoft was abusing its market dominance to eliminate competition by illegally combining Teams with its Office suite, which includes Word, Excel and Outlook.
