NORTH CASCADES, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Forecasted snowfall in the Cascades is leading to a temporary road closure.

Washington State Department of Transportation says that the North Cascades Highway will be shut down at 5:00 p.m. on Nov. 15 between the Ross Dam Trailhead and the Silver Star Gate.

Heavy snowfall is expected in the mountains through the weekend, with precipitation expected to taper off on Sunday, Nov. 17.

The announcement comes around the time Highway 20 typically closes for the winter. Crews will reassess road conditions on Monday, Nov. 18.
