WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Puget Sound Energy (PSE) said it could temporarily shut off power to some customers in the case of extreme wildfire danger.

The utility company that powers most homes and businesses in Whatcom County says shutoffs would only be a “last resort.” They would only be considered when weather and fire experts forecast strong winds, extremely dry conditions and low humidity.

PSE also said it would communicate with customers in advance of and during any power shutoffs.

Power equipment from other electrical companies have previously been blamed for deadly and destructive wildfires in Hawaii, California and several other states.
