BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Alabama Street was briefly shut down Monday morning due to an apartment fire.
The Bellingham Police and Fire departments responded to a report of smoke at an apartment complex at the corner of Alabama and Queen just before 10 a.m.
Officers blocked off traffic on Alabama between Orleans and Racine Streets while firefighters hooked their hose up to a fire hydrant across the road. Community Service Officers eventually took over traffic control, so police were able to resume their patrols.
The road was reopened around 11:30 a.m.
The fire department has not responded for comment on the cause of the fire.
