SKAGIT COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Salmon fishing on the Skagit River will temporarily close starting on Wednesday, May 15.
The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) says the closure is being activated due to a federal Endangered Species Act review of this year’s salmon fisheries.
As a result, Chinook fishing will be closed on the Skagit River from the Memorial Highway Bridge in Mount Vernon to Gilligan Creek until further notice from WDFW.
WDFW says it expects to lift the closure within the coming days.
