SEATTLE, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Two men were sentenced to federal prison on Friday after being caught selling over 75,000 fentanyl pills in Bellingham.
21-year-old Juan Manuel Lugo Enriquez and 24-year-old Guillermo Vieyra Salas, both citizens of Mexico, were sentenced to 38 and 48 months in prison respectively for their involvement in transnational drug trafficking.
The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office aided the investigation with Homeland Security, as undercover officers set up a deal to purchase the fentanyl from the suspects at the Bellingham International Airport in Sept. 2022.
Vieyra Salas had previously been charged with a drive-by shooting in Bellingham’s Birchwood neighborhood and also has a pending cocaine trafficking charge in Skagit County.
A third defendant, 41-year-old Jaime Alonso Hernandez-Hernandez, who delivered the fentanyl for the drug deal, is scheduled for sentencing June 7.
