BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A British Columbia man is in custody after being caught at the border with suspected child pornography.

Court documents state that the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a tip about the suspect’s online activity in November 2023. The tip stated that the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Benjamin Nelson, emailed files containing the explicit content to himself.

One month later, Nelson attempted to cross the border in Blaine but had his phone seized by a Customs and Border Protection officer. Evidence of child pornography was discovered, and Nelson admitted to sending himself the explicit material.

He was arrested on Wednesday, Oct. 16, and remains at the Whatcom County Jail without bail.
