LYNDEN, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Hundreds of Whatcom County families will have a full table on Thanksgiving thanks to the success of a local food drive.
Brown & Brown Insurance of Lynden says it donated more than two tons of turkey and chicken to local food banks following its 13th annual Turkey Drive.
The firm received just over $7,000 in community donations and added $2,000 itself.
The funds went towards 151 whole turkeys, 52 turkey breasts and 316 chickens for the Whatcom County Food Bank Network and Project Hope in Lynden.
Bobbi Green, one of the organizers of the food drive, says Brown & Brown added turkey breasts and chicken for the first time this year to better meet the community’s varied needs.
“We’re so thankful for the generous support we received to provide hundreds of local households with healthy, protein-rich meals,” Green said.
