SKAGIT COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Skagit County is lifting its burn ban this week.

The county announced that beginning on Thursday, Oct. 1, residential yard and land-clearing fires will once again be permitted in unincorporated parts of the area.

Despite the ban being lifted, certain rules still apply for anyone wishing to ignite their yard waste.

Burn permits, available on the Skagit Fire Marshall’s website, will be required for any pile larger than 4 feet by 4 feet.

The county is also reminding residents that burning must be restricted to natural vegetation. No garbage, lumber or construction waste may be burned.

Smoke, odor or ash that interferes with the use of neighboring properties is prohibited as well.
