WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Candidate filing week kicked off on Monday, May 4, ahead of several key races in August’s primary election.
The Whatcom County Auditor’s Office says filing fees are due by 5 pm Friday, May 8.
Some of the major races include a seat on the U.S. House of Representatives and state senate and four seats on the state House. There will also be two races for Port of Bellingham commissioner after residents voted to expand the board from three to five seats last fall.
The auditor’s office encourages people to file for office online, but they can also do so in-person, by mail or by email.
The auditor will hold a lot draw just after the deadline passes on Friday to determine the order candidates will appear on the ballot.
You can find more information on the open offices, filing fees and steps to file for office on the county auditor’s website.
