FERNDALE, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – All lanes of southbound I-5 near Portal Way in Ferndale were blocked after a collision Tuesday afternoon, March 19.
The Washington State Patrol says a car hauler was attempting to enter I-5 southbound at a high rate of speed when it tipped over just before 3 p.m.
A van heading south then struck the hauler.
The driver of the van suffered minor injuries and the car hauler driver was not hurt.
WSDOT says a mile-long backup from the crash also blocked the Portal Way on-ramp.
The road fully reopened about two and half hours later.
Injuries to the driver of the van. No injuries to the driver of the car hauler. Tows are beginning to arrive on scene and we are trying to get it cleared as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience. Here are photos from the collision pic.twitter.com/3nYdIODlS8
