FERNDALE, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – If you see emergency crews at the iconic Cargill Plant in Ferndale, don’t be alarmed.
Whatcom County Fire District (WCFD) 7 says that the upcoming demolition plans means crews will be performing training at the 3rd Avenue site. Residents may see fake smoke, water being sprayed, rescue drills and ladder truck operations in the coming weeks and months.
WCFD says they will do their best to keep traffic flowing in the area but asks drivers to be patient if there are slowdowns.
My Bellingham Now previously reported that Cargill decided to close the facility in November because too many upgrades and investments were needed to keep it running. The site is located at the corner of 3rd Avenue and the Washington Street railroad crossing.
