CHELAN COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Trackers believe they’re on the trail of murder suspect Travis Decker, who has apparently been on the run since his young daughters were found dead last week.
The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office says law enforcement has tracked Decker to an area south of Leavenworth near Blewett Pass.
They say a hiking party reported seeing a lone hiker in the Enchantments area who didn’t seem to be prepared for the trail or weather and who was avoiding other people.
A helicopter crew then spotted a lone off-trail hiker who ran from sight as they passed.
Teams with K-9s then tracked the person to the area around the Ingalls Creek Trailhead on Highway 97.
They’re asking property owners and people who’ve been hiking in the Enchantments to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
The U.S. Marshals Service is offering a reward of up to $20,000 for information that leads directly to Decker’s arrest.
He’s suspected of killing his 5, 8 and 9-year-old daughters after he failed to return them from a scheduled visit.
Their bodies were found at a campground near Leavenworth on June 2.
