CLARK COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A child in southwest Washington is recovering after being rescued from a hot car.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office said that witnesses called for help last month after finding the child alone in a vehicle on a 92 degree day.

A deputy found the child lethargic and sweating profusely, with only one window slightly ajar. The deputy used a tool to break a window and get the child to a cooler location.

Investigators determined the child had been left in the parked car for just over 15 minutes.

Their parents were found inside a nearby grocery store about 30 minutes after the initial 911 call was made.

Both are being charged with reckless endangerment.

With warmer temperatures on the horizon for Whatcom County, law enforcement is reminding people never to leave children or pets alone in hot vehicles.
