BURLINGTON, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A regional children’s museum is making forward progress in supporting families with young children.

The Children’s Museum of Skagit County, in partnership with KAFE 104.1, has raised nearly $16,000 in sponsorships and donations to assist families in the Skagit County area.

The “Basics for Babies” initiative began in partnership with the radio station to bring in needed funding to provide basic needed items like diapers, wipes and baby formula.

“The value of heightening awareness of both the need for these supplies, the Basics for Baies initiative is enormous,” Cate L. Anderson, Executive Director of the Children’s Museum of Skagit County said in a statement.

As of March 7, the children’s museum has collected over 1,600 diapers from community donations, and it is continuing to collect diapers and formula donations.

“It’s so great to see the community lift others up to help them out,” said Scotty Van Dryver, Program Director of KAFE 104.1. “As a dad myself, I know that just the basic needs are expensive, and the cost keeps going up and up. The generosity of Basics for Babies will be able to allow families to not have to make the tough choice of diapers or groceries, diapers or paying the power bill.”
