LYNDEN, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – A Lynden-based farm and home business is selling more stores across the state.

CHS Northwest is selling four stores, including one in Bellingham, according to a notice filed with the state Employment Security Department on Thursday, Feb. 19.

The sales resulted in 38 layoffs that already took effect, though it was not disclosed how many employees from the Bellingham Farm and Home store on Meridian Street were impacted.

The move comes weeks after CHS announced that it’s selling its True Value Store in Lynden, with plans to sell more stores across the state.

Senior Director of Operations at CHS Northwest Eric Ellis confirmed to My Bellingham Now that they don’t intend to close any of the locations but are looking for new owners who are more focused on the retail experience. Ellis says CHS will continue to operate in the area, with a focus on providing customers and owners with energy and agronomy solutions.

CHS also has several other retail locations around Whatcom County in Ferndale, Nooksack and another store in Lynden.

No official announcements have been made regarding the future of those specific stores.
