BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Free showers in Bellingham will be provided from the city for at least another month.
The City of Bellingham has announced that it is extending the free shower program into October of this year.
The program had been set to end on Aug. 31, but the city extended it to coincide with the opening of Unity Care NW’s Way Station in downtown Bellingham.
The Way Station will offer a range of services for people experiencing homelessness including around the clock medical care, behavioral health assistance and expanded access to showers.
Patients who are released from the hospital with nowhere to go will also be able to safely recover at the facility. It’s expected to open at an unspecified date this fall at 1500 N. State St.
Until then, the free showers are available from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the City Hall parking lot.
