BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Community members in Bellingham have the opportunity to join in on an upcoming City of Bellingham event.
The City of Bellingham, alongside the Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association, are hosting their annual work party in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service.
The work party will focus on improving water quality near Squalicum Creek by planting native trees and shrubs as well as restoring the downstream salmon habitat near Willow Spring. This continued restoration project was constructed by the city in 2018.
Prior to the work party at Squalicum Creek, the city is hosting a commemorative community event in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at Bellingham High School with a panel discussion and free community breakfast.
The city advises participants to wear closed-toe shoes, long pants and layers to the work party. Spaces are limited, and you can register at the City of Bellingham website.
