BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The City of Bellingham is celebrating work accomplished in 2024 that helped protect and preserve our environment.
The city has presented a list of statistics highlighting the cumulative totals of many different projects including pollution reduction, water protection, natural area restoration and community engagement.
They say 240 tons of litter was removed from public property including 39 tons from downtown, while city workers spent nearly 2,600 hours cleaning the streets of pollutants.
The press release also mentioned that there were electric vehicle charging stations installed at 22 locations, over 13,000 native plants planted and 50 acres of Lake Whatcom watershed properties purchased to protect them from development.
