BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Bellingham residents should not be alarmed if the water coming out of their taps looks a little different in the coming months.

The City of Bellingham is doing its annual watermain flushing beginning on Tuesday, April 1 and will continue through May.

The city warns that residents may see temporary discoloration or reduced pressure, but the water will still be safe to drink.

Public Works flushes the system to remove mineral deposits that naturally build up in pipes. They advise that if the water looks cloudy, run cold water for a few minutes in order to clear out the discoloration.

Public Works will start in the northwest corner of Bellingham and work southeast over the next two months.
