BELLINGHAM, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Your commute into downtown Bellingham will likely take some extra time starting this week.

Crews from the City of Bellingham Public Works Department will be removing several dead or dying trees in the median along Lakeway Drive.

Work will be done to remove the trees on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to avoid major commuting hours.

The tree removals are expected to be done within three weeks. Medians will then be cleaned and replanted later this fall.

My Bellingham Now previously reported that some trees along E. Chestnut Street were similarly removed after the city arborist determined they were either dead or in poor health.
