FERNDALE, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – Be extra careful if you receive an email from the City of Ferndale.

The city said in a community alert on Thursday that some of its emails have been “compromised.”

It’s urging anyone who receives an email from the City of Ferndale asking them to access the city’s “Portal” to not open the link.

A sample of a compromised email asks the recipient to view a business proposal on behalf of the city.

The city says that it will never send out links without prior communication. It adds that it’s currently working with its IT provider to resolve the issue.

Anyone who’s unsure if an email is safe to open is being directed to call the Ferndale City Hall at (360) 384-4302.
